Today is a strange day. Good Friday is over. The suffering of Jesus has been completed. Yet, it is not yet Easter. Traditionally today is the day on which Jesus descended to the realm of the dead and led all the just souls from the beginning of the world to heaven, so so-called “Harrowing of Hell.” For us, it is a day of watching and waiting. The celebration of Easter begins tonight with the great Vigil of Eater in the Holy Night. In today’s talk, Fr. Shawn describes the theological and historical significance of this greatest liturgy of the year, “The Mother of All Vigils.”
