Is the kingdom of God here? There are many ways we can look at all the trouble in the world and say “Not yet!” How can we say that he kingdom of God is here when there is so much suffering in the world? As we begin Advent let’s not be afraid to look at how things are not all good. It really is that bad! This just means that we need help… we need a savior… and that is what Christmas is all about.
But there is also a very important way in which the kingdom of God is present “Now!” God is not distant. At the first Christmas, God decided to become so active in the world that he actually took on our flesh and entered in. We often think that the goal of being a good Christian is try to do all the right things and lead a life worthy of finding God. The truth is that God is already racing after us. The best thing we can do is make ourselves open to receive him.
