Snow!
I really don’t have much profound to say today, but it’s been a while since I updated my blog. So, I thought I would show some solidarity with those packed in snow back in Kansas. The seminary is very beautiful right now as we have about a foot of snow on the ground as well. We had a wonderful feast day yesterday in honor of Our Lady. Classes were canceled and we devoted the morning to prayer with play in the afternoon.
This is our manger scene in front of the main chapel. Notice that the poor little cow in front of St. Joseph has been almost completely buried. I thought about digging him out, but the drift in front is pretty big and I didn’t want to get lost.
On a different note, we also accomplished something I’d been wanting to do for quite some time. The above is a picture of all the Eagle Scouts that are seminarians at Mundelein. The magazine of the National Eagle Scout Association has a section called “Scouting is a Family Affair” where they normally print pictures of father/son/grandfather Eagle Scouts of multiple generations. I thought it would be neat to take a picture of the Eagles in our seminarian “family” and send it in. The picture on my camera didn’t come out too well, but we’ve got some better one’s for the magazine.
Well, I better wrap it up for today. I went and saw Narnia tonight with about 20 seminarians. It was good, but nothing compared to Lord of the Rings. They really kind of condensed and simplified the plot, I think to make it more of a kids movie. It was still good. Tomorrow I have to attend Marriage Preparation class. Don’t worry, I’m not getting married. I’m going with another seminarian and it’s not legal for us to be married in the state of Illinois yet. Just kidding…it’s part of my pastoral care and counseling class. I’m looking forward to seeing how a typical parish in this area handles marriage preparation. Now off to bed. God bless you all.
