In Memoriam
This last week was finals week for us here at Mundelein. We’re on a quarter system here and our fall quarter just ended. On top of finals we had the honor of welcoming the families of Matty and Jared for a special memorial service on Friday. We had Mass for them and then dedicated two memorials in the cemetery. The rector’s homily at Mass was wonderful. He quoted from Matty and Jared’s letters they wrote for their seminary applications about why they wanted to be priests. Matty’s was all about how he had been so touched by the love of God that he wanted to spend his life telling (and showing) other people how much God loved them. You’ll notice that the inscription on his memorial stone his very appropriate. Jared likewise loved the Lord so much that his inscription is also very appropriate. I don’t have a whole lot of words that can express the emotions of this week. So, I’ll give some pictures…

All the graves in our cemetery are arranged in a circle facing the big statue of the Angel of God preparing to sound his trumpet to raise the dead on the last day.
